She was dedicated to ensuring we got exactly what we were looking for. We did.

Laura is amazing. Working closely with our staff, she was able to pull out the essential aspects of our work, and craft a beautiful and impassioned narrative to support our 100% Campaign. Laura’s work resonated so broadly, we have used her framework as the architecture for our annual report and other messaging documents.
— Katie Albright, Safe & Sound
Laura was assigned as a writer to our video production project by our client. When we saw her first draft we knew we had a smart cookie on our team. She was an absolute joy to work with. By the time we finished editing we knew we wanted her to write for us again soon. No one should hesitate to bring her talents on board.
— Andy Linda, eImage Video Productions
Laura is like human Xanax—when I had too many projects to juggle, she kicked right in and reduced my anxiety. I was incredibly relieved to have found a writer who is not only smart and witty, but also reliable, good-humored, and flexible enough to take on all the marketing tasks I need help with.
— Karen Cristello, American Academy of Ophthalmology
Tasking someone to articulate the vision and direction of a band and their debut record is no small affair. Laura captured in words exactly the essence of what we wanted to communicate with music. We were most taken with her sincere interest in the project and her empathy for the material. She was dedicated to ensuring we got exactly what we were looking for. We did.
— Rusty Zagst, girling the Band
I had the good fortune to work with Laura on a project that required all of her amazing talents on a strict deadline. Not only was the project a success, but the production company we were using tried to hire her right off! Laura’s key is her heart and her attitude. No pretensions—all kindness and honesty. Even as a freelancer, she’s been like one of our staff.
— Douglas Ismail, California Masonic Foundation
Laura is easy to work with, dependable, and above all, does a fantastic job of understanding what I need and getting me a wonderful story that my readers enjoy. She is always on time and on target. When in need, Laura is first on my list!

In-house publications

From member magazines to employee newsletters, writing for associations takes a unique skill set. Done well, it's strategic as well as stylish. Thanks to my start in journalism, I know how to grab your audience's attention. Thanks to more than a decade in nonprofit communications, I know how to do so in support of your organization's core values and strategic goals.

I have a special fondness for profiles. It's a privilege to be given a glimpse into another person's life, and a great deal of fun working out just the right approach and quotes to depict them. Whether you're recognizing a donor, an employee of the month, or a loyal client, you want their entire experience to be rewarding, from interview to article. I'm proud to be part of that process.

Some of my most fulfilling work has been in the service of great causes, from child literacy to relief for vulnerable seniors. I have experience writing for almost all aspects of fundraising, including email and direct mail campaigns, in-depth case statements, testimonials and profiles, video scripts, and even speeches. I can write to the heart of your cause, inspiring donors to connect emotionally and give.

Whatever the project, I probably have experience to match. Contact me with your writing needs, and I'll share relevant samples of my work.
